    Unifi AP AC PRO Setup

Hello Everyone, i am installing this AP for the first time, i been watching videos, i want to configure a wireless network using a VLAN, but i followed the steps on this video

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1hFHDV_UjM

But i keep getting and ip from my main network, i upgraded and adopt the AP

I have Spectrum internet, using an UBEE cable modem and it has a DHCP, the GW ip is 192.168.0.1, and then i noticed in the NETWORKS tab, i had assigned the 192.168.1.0/24 network

So i changed to the network i am using 192.168.0.1/24, that is the main network

and then i created the virtual lan where i want the wifi redirects the traffic 192.168.1.0/24 and with the dhcp enabled

Then i create a WLAN and assigned the VLAN

But when i connect with my phone or any other device i keep getting an ip from the main router (Spectrum), what am i doing wrong?

    Thanks for your help

    Hey,

So you are not using a Unifi USG? you need to create a network within the USG or any other router you have. Your ISP may not let you create different networks only the main lan

Thanks for your prompt answer, and no, i do not have a USG, i have the UBEE Cable modem, i already disable the DHCP on it, and make a test conecting to the wifi network, but i don't get ip address, if i have it disabled the Unifi AP should provide me with an ip, right?

You will not get any IPs from the unifi controller as you do not have a USG so there is no DHCP server running on it. Do be able to make other networks in unifi and have it assign IPs you would need a USG unfortunately.

You are going to want to enable DHCP back on you UBEE cable modem or none of your clients ( devices ) will get an IP address.

Got it, i was confused with the controller and the AP, tow different things, so what your recomend the USG, the cloud key to run the controller and the AP, and then i will be capable of running the two separate networks right?

    Thanks

i have a Dell Switch, i can manage the VLAN on the USG and just use the DELL just to connect the computers to the network, right? i am planning on use at least 3 AP, because i need to have WIFI in the warehouse, so i think it will be better to get the USG, thanks for your help

If you get a USG you will be able to have two seperate networks. There are speed limitations if you turn threat management on with the USG I believe 85 mbps. But if you have that off it should be able to route 1gb. The cloud key would be able to run the controller and all the configuration
